Here’s to all our great coaches!
This will be a little bit more of a serious blog. Everything is going okay and I’m still at it but I’ve come to realize the importance of coaching. As an Olympic athlete you have your good days and your bad days and you have your good weeks and bad weeks. I remember so clearly that it was always my coach that got me through this, and not only kept me motivated but kept me emotionally positive and strong. As I’m into my many weeks of Herbal magic I have found myself emotionally challenged. As good as I am in watching everything I eat and staying on top of my exercising I find my weight has become slow in dropping.
Where I am going with this, is my coach Sandi and her staff have been a real inspiration in making me realize how this is okay and every day remind me of the many, many inches I have dropped. I had to take a week-long trip to Winnipeg to do a skating clinic and it’s been a long time since I was able to pack a suitcase in minutes, you know why?? I fit into all my clothes now and don’t have to spend hours trying them on to see what fits!! Emotionally I’m sure we can all say there are days where we wonder, "why didn’t my weight go down?" Well everyone, it happens. And as long as we all can support each other and keep strong, we can do it!! Sooooo here’s to all our great coaches out there and remember to believe in their words of encouragement. Take it from me, it works!!
I hit the 20 lb mark!
Well, I hit the 20 lb mark! It’s been an amazing week with a great visit to the North Bay Herbal Magic centre. It was inspiring to meet people who are also on a weight loss journey. The wonderful stories and success I got to see and hear were amazing. I’ve been travelling a lot as usual but still working hard!! My only downfall is all this travelling has made me miss a lot of my workouts. I sometimes think that could be why I’m plateauing, but I will stay positive and motivated and I can see the goal in sight. It’s so great to meet people and to have so many see the difference in me already. I tell you, without this lifestyle change I sure wouldn’t be able to keep up with my crazy schedule!!! So, more good news…my husband is on maintenance and doing really well. His increase in energy has him back playing 2 hour hockey games with my nephews...and he’s keeping up with the young guys, haha.
Sooo another week ahead....and hoping to get my workouts going!! Stay positive everyone and I will check in soon!!
I wish I could re-do the commercial
WOW! Can I just confess and say I finally got to see my Ovarian Cancer television commercial and I can’t believe how heavy I looked compared to now!!! Thank you Sandi, my coach and everyone at Herbal Magic for changing my life. I wish I could re-do the commercial now!!! I’m shocked at how I looked in the ad...but I know the ad is for a great cause. This in itself is the motivation to keep going and stay on track! I’m back to my hour walks but still squeezing in all the travel. Had my first appearance with CTV on Tuesday and was proud of how I looked and felt. My confidence is higher than it has been in ages and I’m really looking forward to the Olympics in Vancouver because I will be at my goal weight!! I’m getting there but by September I’m hoping to hit it.

A crazy, inspirational week
Well this has been a crazy but inspirational week for me. I travelled to 3 regions in the Ottawa Valley, visiting 3 Herbal Magic locations along the way. I was in Morrisburg , Kemptville, and Manotick and it was a wonderful time. I met staff and clients. It was amazing to meet people who are on a weight loss journey like me and even more so to meet so many who have met their goal, and now are maintaining it! Listening to their success stories was really inspiring and motivational at the same time.
Thank you to everyone that came out to see me. And thank you for all your incredible stories, compliments and encouragement throughout the day. I’m proud, and honoured, to be a part of the Herbal Magic Family.

WOW!! I’m in awe every time I see my Ovarian Cancer television commercial. I filmed it before I started with Herbal Magic and so it was shot during my ‘before’ weight. I see such a huge difference in me now!! So many people, too many to count, have come up to me and said, "It doesn’t even look like you Liz." There are days I wish we could do the commercial over...but then I think it’s such a reminder of where I was and how far I have come. I’m beaming and overjoyed with my new lifestyle, my new look and my new confidence. Thanks everyone for supporting me and cheering me on every week!!! Keep the motivation coming!
I get to shop!!!
Well another week and still going strong. My schedule lightened up for a few days so that was a nice break. Funny thing happened this week. I have 3 Gala events to attend over the next few weeks. Soooo, I went to try on my formal gowns and it was a no go. Nothing fit!!! Wow not only am I getting so much smaller but I get to shop!!! Don’t tell my husband.
I then run from store to store to find a gown and I found a beautiful one but it needed some alterations. Upon my fitting with a seamstress she proceeds to pull out what I would call "the tray with items that help fill out a certain upper part of a woman’s gown" (I hope you all understand what I’m getting at here heehee). She says, "this will help fill out your dress and the straps wont have to be tightened then!" My first reaction was NOOOO!! I looked her right in the eyes and said, "you don’t understand how hard I have worked to have a smaller body...please don’t start stuffing my dress!!!"
I can’t believe it. I’m so excited! I’ve gotten to a point where people want to start stuffing my clothes to fill them out. How ironic is that!!! The seamstress then says to me, "this is the first time a woman has come to me and doesn’t want the extra stuffing!"
Long story short, I left feeling like a million dollars!!!

What a great week!!! I was at the Friends & Family Launch for Herbal Magic in London, Ontario and I have to say, the stories I continue to hear of success and desire to lose weight amazes me every time. For years I always thought it was just me who had this struggle, and always asked, “why me?” Having the opportunity to talk to so many families and hear their incredible stories inspires me still.
The night was so well done and I had the opportunity to have my photo taken with many clients and workers from the London centres. I got great feedback and I have to share one of them with you. A lady said to me "WOW you are so tiny and your web page says just over 20 lbs, but you look so different, you look like you’ve lost more!" What she never knew is that I’m only 5 feet tall!!! So the 24 lb weight loss has changed my entire look. She said to me "on your blog you should tell people you’re so short and tiny because when we read 23 pounds we think ‘how can you look so different?’”
So I thought today I would mention to everyone this little story because it’s true. My husband attended the function with me and he has lost 35 lbs, but he’s over 6 feet tall!! I’m sooo proud of him and it was so enjoyable to have him meet all my Herbal Magic Family and show him that as a family, we can do this together. Brent and I have shown this and we love our new look and healthy lifestyle.
Cleaning out helps the journey!!!
Well, it’s been an amazing week!!! Busy, busy, busy, but successful! I’m officially down 24 pounds and a total of 40 1/2 inches. I seem to have gotten through my plateau and I’m very excited! I went on Platoria a week ago and it has helped me tremendously. I had a first appearance with CTV this week and felt great wearing a business suit that I have had stored away for a couple of years.
This week, I also officially launched the Winners Walk of Hope for Ovarian Cancer Canada. They hadn’t seen me since the weekend of the Herbal Magic convention in Toronto in May and everyone was overwhelmed by my change. It’s so motivating to hear and see people’s reactions when they see me. After that, I was off to Toronto for the third time in a week. I just completed my new video blog, so I hope you tune in for that!
I’m feeling fantastic!! Everyone’s support on the web site is awesome and you have all kept me very positive and motivated. Thank you. Oh by the way...I also did spring cleaning in August and gave away all my big clothes!! I never want to see them again...clean them out of my life. I have a whole new and healthier life and I never want to look back again If I keep these clothes around, it’s looking back and can I just tell you how wonderful it feels to do this? It’s a whole new beginning.
Keep up the great work everyone. We can do this all together...and seriously, cleaning out helps the journey!!!
